Phase 1: Tend to the soil

This is a 60 hour live, online training

In this container we explore the philosophical ground of our practice and establish foundations for cultivating a somatic and enquiry based approach. We explore a unique combination of ancient and contemporary texts, filtering our enquiries through the felt sense to experience how the body holds the philosophy, so that you can move from a conceptual to an embodied understanding of the philosophy. The result is that the philosophy naturally begins to filter into your teaching and life in an organic way.

In weekly meetings over 6 months we dive into 6 modules

1 Begin at the beginning

Remember your WHY. Philosophical ground: a variety of perspectives on the nature of reality. Introduction to key texts and themes.

2 The bigger picture

Establish a clear and resonant understanding of philosophy from an integrative (as opposed to renunciate) perspective and explore how non-dual tantric ideas meet modern perspectives and science.

3 Navigate the challenge

If we are ‘all one’, then why doesn’t it feel that way? How a culture of separation thwarts our instincts and interferes with our capacity to sense the whole that we are a part of. Understand contexts that give rise to self doubt and post teaching shame spirals and learn basic tools to navigate the vulnerability of authentic teaching and creative expression.

4 Hone your craft

Towards an enquiry based pedagogy. Meet your inner teacher, and explore how to teach in a way that introduces students to theirs. Refine your language, and fine tune your capacity to promote an inclusive, compassionate and empowering class culture.

5 Practical application

Explore somatic approaches to teaching movement and sequencing. What does alignment mean in an enquiry based model? How to bring more space for exploration into your classes without losing structure and containment. Creativity in class crafting; building rich, layered and nuanced practices to spark curiosity.

6 Integration

Generating possibilities: from personal to collective. Integrating and processing our practice and facilitation as a project for collective thriving.

We will learn together through:

  1. module: Key concepts, ancient & contemporary textual study, lecture, discussion

  1. practice: Specialised practices to integrate the module content. WE explore somatic frameworks for teaching whilst attuning to the philosophy through our bodies

  1. Facilitation playground: practice teaching with peers to experiment, test, explore and share your process as part of your learning and integration process

  1. community calls: a KNOWLEDGE sharing container. share inspiration, parse apart the hard questions, and connect with a community of teachers to feel what it is like to be genuinely seen and met in the ongoing process of your teaching journey

Each module is a journey. From the intellectual stimulation of philosophical contemplation, to specialised practices to integrate and explore those ideas through the body; the opportunity to experiment with facilitation as part of your learning process, and community calls to parse apart the challenges and engage in knowledge sharing with an incredible group of teachers.

At a time when my teaching and my personal practice had been feeling a little stale and tired, this training not only whole-heartedly revived them, but also - and unexpectedly so - opened up a whole other dimension of awe in regards to the beauty of our wholeness and the very miracle of our existence. Paula skilfully wove together the threads of ancient philosophy, modern day literature and beautiful embodiment practises to create a 6 month container that is perhaps one of the most inspiring courses I have studied to date. Not simply a yoga training, but a journey that will shift your perspective and underpin how you show up in your world and in your work and with your loved ones. I found it really magical and I am very grateful to Paula who is an extremely gifted teacher and lovely human.

This has been one of the most interesting and well structured learning experiences I have had. I have enjoyed the group discussions, even though I’ve only been viewing recordings rather than participating live, and have so much to explore, read, embody, and get curious about.
